Instructions For Making Trellis Necklaces
Items needed:
1 crochet hook, size: N, M, or P (I didn’t have these sizes, so I used a K and crocheted very loosely)
1 ball (Lion Brand) Trellis Ribbon, (see note below) 1 3/4 oz. ball, 50 grams/115 yards (you will be able to get 3-4 necklaces from one ball of ribbon)
There are 3 sizes of necklaces: Small, Medium and Large; chose the size that best fits your neck. (the one in the photo is Large)
The only stitch used will be Chain Stitch
Cut 7 strips of ribbon in the following sizes:
SMALL: (about 12 inches long) Cut 2 strips-2 yards, plus 4 inches long
Cut 2 strips-1 yard, plus 33 inches long
Cut 3 strips-2 yards long
————————————
MEDIUM: (about 14 inches long) Cut 2 strips-2 yards, plus 22 inches long
Cut 2 strips-2 yards, plus 15 inches long
Cut 3 strips-2 yards, plus 18 inches long
———————————–
LARGE: (about 16 inches long) Cut 2 strips-3 yards, plus 4 inches long
Cut 2 strips-2 yards, plus 33 inches long
Cut 3 strips-3 yards long
———————————–
Measure 12 inches of one strip and begin chaining at that point. Work in chain stitch until you come to within 12 inches of the end; pull ribbon through last chain to finish. Lay this piece aside and work the remaining ribbons in the same manner: start chaining at the 12-inch mark and chain to 12-inches from the end.
When all 7 of the strips have been crocheted, bring them all together, lining up the places where you began to chain stitch. When they are smooth, tie the ribbons together about 2-inches from where you began the chain stitch. Do the same at the other end of your strips; tying a knot about 2-inches from the end of the chain stitch.
Bring the two knots together and then tie the ends together, making your knot as close to the end of the strips as you can and still get them into the knot. You may want to trim the ends if they are uneven. To knot, simply make a loop and pull the ends through the loop and pull tight.
For a different effect, you can twist the 7 strands together before tying the knot at the end.
These necklaces are light-weight, soft and pick up the colors you are wearing.
I'd also like to share this tutorial I found.

The instructor gives simple easy instructions on how to make beautiful Crocheted necklaces out of wire..They are very easy and fun. I also created a bracelet using the same method only starting with crocheting in the beads and
leaving a two inch end on each end for tying off and adding clasps. Earrings can be made to match for a set. They're really pretty, fun and different. Below is a photo of a three piece set I made in only a few hours:

My Newest Jewelry Hobby
I found a tutorial online with directions on how to crochet necklaces out of wire. With my sis-in-law's help, we figured it out and I really love the look of them. They dress up a sweater or plain top and are very pretty and trendy for today's look. They can be made with 24 or 26 gauge wire using a simple crochet stitch and a large crochet hook. The size and length can be adjusted a bit depending on the looseness of your stitch as well as squeezing the wires tighter. These necklaces are very pliable and so much FUN!
My next attempt is making lacy looking necklaces to go along with the whimsey earrings made out of trellis yarn. Stay tuned and if you need directions on how to make these, please ask.
The necklaces are $25.00 each. I hope to figure out a pattern for bracelets to match and would also design earrings with the same colored beads if desired.
WHIMSEY'S-Lightweight whimsical earrings made from Trellis Yarn that can be cut shorter as you wish or remain long and sassy. These earrings are excellent for those people who cannot wear heavy earrings but yet enjoy a fun, youthful and colorful asset to their attire. $7.00 Pr.

My Sis, Mary, came over to show me how to create the crocheted necklace to match the "Whimsey Earrings" made with Trellis Yarn...They are so much fun and lightweight yet add a bit of elegance to a sweater or plain shirt.. Below are photos of her finished project. All it takes is measuring and crocheting a straight stitch to make this lovely necklaces. I made one just like it in an evening. It just takes patience and perseverance to work with lattice yarn.
I also added a bracelet and earrings to match the Wire crocheted Necklaces:

Holy Family Snow Angel Craft Fair- Nov 19, 2011
This was our second (My sis, Carol & I) Craft Fair at this festival! It was very successful and is always a lot of fun. Next year I plan to incorporate more art as individual and unusual art projects seem to go better and there is always so much jewelry! My sis created some beautiful Adirondack signs and mirrors which were very popular and I am so very proud!!!!
I added some new designs with jewelry and photo cards this year as well as gift baskets which made for good holiday gift-giving for hostess parties and teacher gifts. I also created some crocheted Trellis Yarn earrings which are very lightweight and whimsical which seemed to catch the eye of the younger generation.
I will be adding several photos of my basket array and new items in the next photos:
